Hands/Wrists constantly rotating??

My son is approaching 9 months and he's constantly moving his hands around, especially when he's excited or full of energy. But it's very frequent and he's been doing it for months now. Does anyone else's baby do this?? Im trying not to let it worry me but I can't help it when all I read is "early signs of autism" articles when I research it. He also doesn't roll over on his own yet or crawling so I'm starting to worry. His wellness appt is in a couple weeks but wanted to hear from other moms in the meantime! Thanks!

My guy does this so much! He used to do it with his feet too but that seems to be gone. The hands and wrists always though when he's happy and excited. I have ZERO concerns about him being autistic. He is sooo social and always seeks interactions. He's meeting his milestones. So I think it can be completely normal.

Are there any other signs you've noticed? I would only be concern is it's not an isolated symptom.

@ksah-k,

oh I'm so glad to hear this, thank you! I was worried but yeah my son is very social and makes eye contact too! I feel like the more I read, the more I find things to worry about! I need to stop lol.

@tmarie0718,

This is me right now.

Constantly worrying about everything my daughter also rolls her wrists.

Everything I've read says that nothing is considered early signs of autism till 2 years old

My baby does this too! I'm sure it's them exploring their hands and wrists and feeling the movement. She will hold a toy in her hand and do it too, like she's learning how to move things. I wouldn't worry mama! I'm sure LO is just exploring his body

@bri_elder,

yeah I think the more I read things, the more worried I get. I need to stop! I was just worried because I thought it wouldn't be as frequent since he's been doing it for months now but I'm glad he's not the only one who does this. Seems more common now. Thanks!

mine does this too! especially when eating or when he's just playing with food

My girl does it too, a lot! And really fast when excited as well, it's just a way of expressing themselves why they can't talk and do something they want yet! My health visitor actually said it's really advanced that she already does it now. Don't worry!! I and she doesn't crawl yet either

Normal :) My two boys did it as well. My girl sometimes does as well. My first boy with autism never stopped, so that's why it's difficult to diagnose so early, and he had other body movements, ticks, milestone delays too. If your baby is doing well, and those movements are the only concern, I wouldn't stress about it. Google is terrible with medical advice like that. Everything seems to point to autism, or even cancer! It's crazy stressful :(

My daughter does this very often and almost always when she is excited or drinking a bottle.
